The Meaning of FQS Battery Labels

At FQS Battery, we always strive to provide the maximum information on our products. That is why our labels include additional information that helps both professionals and individuals when selecting the battery model they need.

For passenger car batteries, the most important battery data is always quickly visible. Additionally, we provide a series of additional information that we consider important and that other battery brands do not provide.

We explain the meaning of the data and information shown on our automotive battery labels.
VOLTAGE

All current vehicles operate at 12V. Therefore, batteries for these vehicles are all 12 volts.

However, for those who own a classic car, the voltage these vehicles operate with is 6 volts. That is why at FQS Battery, we have our own selection of batteries for classic vehicles.

Voltage
Ampere-Hours
AMPERE-HOURS – AH
This data refers to the maximum amount of energy a battery can store. The technical explanation is much broader, but we can summarize it in the previous sentence.
For example, if we select our FQS75B.0 battery, which is a 75AH battery, from that information we directly obtain that:
  • The FQS75B.0 battery has the capacity to provide 1A continuous current for 75 hours.
  • The FQS75B.0 battery has the capacity to provide 7.5A continuous current for 10 hours.
This is important data when selecting your vehicle’s battery, as it must be equal to or greater than the one being replaced. This is because the battery with which the vehicle operates is equipped with a battery that has the necessary Ampere-Hours to function optimally.
STARTING POWER – A

When we start our vehicle, the engine must receive a brief but high-intensity energy discharge. That is the starting power. Not all engines need the same power to start. Some vehicles are sufficient with 45 amps, while others need 90 amps or more.

Hence the importance of this value. We must select the appropriate one for our vehicle to start, but without overdoing it, as an excess of starting amps can cause problems. And without falling short, because then the vehicle will not start.

Starting Power
Range - Technology
RANGE AND TECHNOLOGY

Our batteries always indicate the range they belong to, which refers to the technology they employ.

For passenger cars, the relevant factor is knowing if our vehicle has a START-STOP system or not. If it does, it will require an AGM battery or an EFB battery. But be careful, not just any one. It must be the one recommended by the vehicle or the manufacturer.

And if it doesn’t have one, your vehicle can use a conventional battery or an EFB battery. But always provided that the values are in accordance with the vehicle’s needs.

MINIMUM ENERGY RESERVE

Passenger car batteries gradually lose their energy charge due to the vehicle’s operation and the electronics the car uses, such as screens, radio, etc., which we can enjoy inside the car. This is where the alternator comes into play, recharging the battery while the vehicle is running. So, as long as the battery and alternator are in good condition, the car battery will have enough energy.

Our batteries indicate the minutes the battery can supply power at 25 amps when the alternator, for whatever reason, is not recharging the battery. That is, time to get to a workshop to solve the problem so that the car doesn’t leave us stranded due to lack of power.

Obviously, the minutes provided by this data will also depend on the number of screens in use and other devices that are currently operating in the vehicle.

Measurements
MEASUREMENTS
The spaces manufacturers allocate for batteries are standard. However, within these standards, there are different measurements. And if we also consider Asian cars, they tend to have more specific measurements with smaller terminals.

That is why at FQS Battery, we put the battery measurements on the front label, in millimeters. These may vary by 3%, which is insignificant.
And we also include the standardized model of the battery case: L1, LB1, L2, LB2, etc.

Thus, between both indications, we can always find the exact measurement needed for the vehicle.
