In FQS Battery, we have recently witnessed an event that fills us with pride and serves as an inspiring example of solidarity. The company Rouco SURL, specialized in the comprehensive management of products and services for the automotive market in Cuba, made a generous donation on October 11th to Miguel Alipio León Teaching Polyclinic in Passenger Watering Hole, province of Cienfuegos.
Among the donated materials, a battery stands out. FQS145SHD.3, intended for the generator that supplies the center's healthcare units and radiology service. Thanks to this contribution, 25 services that were paralyzed due to the power outage have been reactivated. This includes the ventilator-assisted room and the X-ray services, both severely affected by the constant power outages.
The solidarity shown by Rouco SURL has had an immediate and profound impact on the community. Their efforts and selflessness have made it possible for the clinic's essential services to be operational again almost immediately.
Key aspects about these batteries:
Battery types:
- Lead-acidThe most common backup systems include wet cells (flooded) and sealed cells (VRLA, AGM, or gel). They are known for their reliability in highly demanding environments.
- Lithium ionLighter, with higher energy density and a longer lifespan. Although more expensive, they offer excellent reliability, especially in hospitals where energy requirements are higher and space is a critical factor.
Main functions:
- Starting the generatorIn the event of a power failure, the batteries supply the energy needed to start the generator.
- Initial energy supply: Some batteries can cover the supply until the generator comes into operation.
- Monitoring and controlIn advanced systems, batteries also power devices that manage automatic ignition and monitoring of the generator set.
Requirements in healthcare settings:
- Reliability:Power continuity is critical in hospitals and clinics, where a failure can affect vital equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and patient monitoring systems.
- Regulatory compliance: Batteries must comply with local and international regulations that establish guidelines for backup systems in critical facilities.
- MaintenanceRegular maintenance is essential to ensure batteries are in good condition and ready to operate when needed. Periodic testing and timely replacement are crucial.
